I didn't think the ending made a lot of sense - they couldn't have escaped that room full of angry gods, and that whole scene with Cassandra bound and Jake hanging from the ceiling dragged a bit.
I admit I wasn't a big fan of Ezekiel with Nessie's egg, either. It felt like a repetition of Stumpy. Not to mention that the baby "monster" would have to have been a lot bigger if it came from that big an egg.
I pretty much liked everything else. Cassandra being afraid but not losing heart, Jake enjoying his role as Finklestein. Cassandra and Jake arguing about magic. Jenkins, as always. Eve being supportive.
I definitely enjoyed the episode.

Good division of teamwork in this episode, focusing on two characters on a mission while the others run backup. And Ezekiel gets a sidequest involving a ridiculously huge egg with a ridiculously tiny monster inside.
"No, I'm withholding pertinent information for fun. Of course that's all I saw!"
Poor Cassandra, getting awkwardly hit on by a frost-giant woman. She needs to get a nice girlfriend.
Jake's bluffing had some great moments, even if it relied pretty heavily on coincidence. Knowing the year of the cholera plague in London: useful! Grabbing the badge of the one guy who coincidentally showed up late and had a sister: hilarious luck.
Another underused practical issue with magic: your transportalizer door might open at the bottom of twenty feet of snow. Did this ever happen to Stargates? I know it was an issue in Pern, where the dragons could accidentally teleport into the middle of mountains if they weren't concentrating enough.
Apparently this isn't the Egyptian Mythology season so much as the Dodgy Mythology Across The Board season. But, eh, I like frost giants, and they had fun with it.

Oooh yes she does!

I haven't seen all the episodes, but I seem to remember one gate being underwater? Usually, they'd be nice and accessible, since they were always constructed at ground-level. But of course they could fall victim to natural disasters like that and get buried under rubble or something. I think that's what the thingies were for, I forget what they were called. The ones they always sent through first. So they at least thought about the possibility of it not being safe to go through.

Hahaha, yes. :D

Date: 2016-12-18 01:44 am (UTC)If you open a door underwater, of course, you're not gonna need robot help to figure it out in a hurry. I hope the Library has failsafes against that, or you'd have a whole lot of destroyed books....

Date: 2016-12-18 07:34 am (UTC)Hehee, yes.
The gates in Stargate had an iris for that (although I doubt it was waterproof). One could imagine that the "membrane" they always stumble through in the Librarians is some kind of "gate" only letting through things with a certain velocity, so maybe it would hold back water. But then it should have held back the snow, too. Ugh, this one is hard to explain away. ;)

Date: 2016-12-18 09:47 am (UTC)Oh yes she absolutely needs to get a nice girlfriend : I don't care if the show wants to have her as bisexual later, so far we've only seen her flirt with women and I'd like to see that explored in an episode. Gay Cassandra would be amazing, so long as they fix her tumour and not sacrifice the only gay character!
Yes, very good division of teamwork, far better than last episode. This one worked for me. And even the Dodgy Mythology here was far better than "Anubis is a werewolf" which made me facepalm! I was going for trolls until the reveal at which my first thought was Loki :)

Date: 2016-12-18 09:42 am (UTC)Stone and Cass have an interesting dynamic because he still can't forgive her betrayal, and here they argue over the usefulness of magic. At one point it seems Cass is allowed to be right, magic, like technology is capable of both harm and help. But Stone gets the last word, magic may have saved them but magic got them into the mess into the first place. Cass allows this is true so their friendship seems stronger which is nice.
Ezekiel and Eve have their own bonding, with Ezekiel proving both his recklessness and resourcefulness. Eve is trying to bring them all to their full Librarian potential, having seen that in the various au timelines, but she has to realise that this is a different Ezekiel and he will get to his potential by different means.
Teamwork, banter, baby Loch Ness monster. My favourite episode of this season. Flynn was absent but Noah Wyle did a great job directing :)

Date: 2016-12-18 10:26 am (UTC)I just wonder why they put so much emphasis on that all season. I mean, shouldn't she have done that last season already if it's so important to her? It feels like she's only just trying to train them now, a year later. (And it makes me think she is going to die.)

He did! I was planning on doing a picspam of cool direction decisions, but I haven't had much energy this month. :/
p.s.: the other comment above was me, too, I didn't notice I was logged out.

Date: 2016-12-31 11:26 am (UTC)Jazekiel would be Jake and Ezekiel. Hmm, it's more popular than I had noticed before.
Cassekiel is pretty popular (mostly because of their bonding in the maze in 1x03).
Flyzekiel is Flynn with Ezekiel. They had a hey day in 3x02 when Flynn sniffed him and made a nice uplifting speech. :)
I think there's an ot3 for the lits, too, but I forget what it is.
There's a big following of Jenkins/Ezekiel, too, but I don't know if they have a name.
Cassandra/Eve is ... I don't know. I tried Ceve and Casseve, but neither have many posts. I know people ship them, though.
Evlynn is Eve and Flynn, of course. Although some people spell it Evelynn, and some have switched to Fleve since it was called that in canon in 2x10.
I'm sure there are more. *G*
